The Oberlin Improvisation and Newmusic Collective (OINC), based in the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, is an ensemble devoted to trans-idiomatic improvisation techniques and rehearsal of indeterminate pieces in a workshop setting. In addition to performances by the full ensemble, each semester a number of smaller breakout ensembles are formed. The primary goal of the Collective is to provide a structured environment in which to investigate ways of spontaneously creating engaging music. OINC was formed Fall semester of 2008 by Per Bloland, its current director.
